Sustainable Communities is an established social enterprise which supports a variety of community and environmental projects across the UK . Our partner Rainbow Communities will co -deliver this project as a new “by and for” LGBT+ charity, supporting and empowering vulnerable members of the LGBT+ community. Working across generational and cultural divides, our partnership will focus on what unites our community – a need for understanding, for acceptance and inclusivity, to promote equality , foster the diversity of our community and enable a sense of belonging, friendship and fun.
LGBT+ Older Persons’ Community Development Co-ordinator (London)

Sustainable Communities is an established social enterprise which supports a variety of community and environmental projects across the UK . To deliver this project you will be work with our partner, Rainbow Communities which is a new “by and for” LGBT+ charity, supporting and empowering vulnerable members of the LGBT+ community. Working across generational and cultural divides, our partnership will focus on what unites our community – a need for understanding, for acceptance and inclusivity , to promote equality , foster the diversity of our community and enable a sense of belonging, friendship and fun. The postholder will need to self identify as LGBT+ and complete a satisfactory enhanced CRB check, which we will organise.
Key tasks
- Facilitate and develop our on line and in person work with LGBT+ Londoners living with dementia and LGBT+ carers living with dementia
- Facilitate, train and support our volunteers delivering our 121 befriending service with individual and isolated and vulnerable LGBT+ Londoners
- Facilitate our developing range of LGBT+ community services for Londoners operated by trained volunteers which are linked to our Befriending services
- Undertake back up administrative services to support the LGBT+ dementia and befriending and community linked services
- Supervise and support volunteers and sessional staff involved in service delivery

LGBT+ Specialist Sessional Support Workers x 3
Self employed, required to be London based and work nationally for a total of up to 40 days / half days per year over 12 months from Spring / summer 2025. We are looking for experienced self-employed workers who self-identify as LGBT+ to undertake the following three separate self-employed roles:
Specialist LGBT+ Dementia support worker
40 days over 12 months
- £150 per day ( 7 hours ) / £75 per half day (3.5 hours)
- Induction and Safeguarding training provided
- Subject to satisfactory reference and Enhanced CRB Checks
- Ongoing supervision and support
- London based with some home working
- Work involves supporting projects and individuals across England and Wales either remotely or in person

LGBT+ Rainbow Friends Sessional Specialist
40 days over 12 months
- £150 per day ( 7 hours ) / £75 per half day (3.5 hours)
